Great Balls of fire: Ed the Strictly showman survives another week

Ed Balls is spotted being an ass and if you look carefully the dancing competition has created its own version of Boaty Mcboatface.

Surviving in more controversial fashion this week was The X Factor underdog Honey G. Following the singing contest's movies week the IT worker turned comedy hip hop phenomenon was relegated to the sing-off in the public vote.

But it was Greg Rutherford and Claudia Fragapane who landed in the bottom two and had to face the dreaded dance off.

After the couples danced, their fate was in the hands of the judges.

The Olympic long jumper and his partner, Natalie Lowe, ended up in the danceoff alongside the gymnast Claudia Fragapane and her partner, AJ Pritchard, but the judges opted to save Fragapane.

Darcey Bussell explained her decision: "It's really tough to see both these couples in the dance-off and they did such a better performance tonight, but the couple I would like to save for the stronger technique: Claudia and AJ". I have great respect for [Rutherford and Lowe], but the couple I'd like to save is: "Claudia and AJ".

"No doubt the judges will be as fair, kind and thoughtful as me (especially the charming Craig Revel Horwood)".

Louise, Daisy and Danny will join new tour host, Anita Rani and the new live tour judging panel of Len Goodman, Craig Revel Horwood and former Strictly professional dancer and victor of the 2006 series, Karen Hard.

Talking to Tess about his Strictly experience Greg said; "It's been one of the most of incredible things in my life".

By which I mean, good evening and welcome to our Strictly Come Dancing liveblog for week nine's Blackpool special results show.

You've never had any dance experience but you got out there and you've just shown the world that you can dance.

Balls is expected to be lowered from the ceiling of Blackpool's Tower Ballroom playing a grand piano during Saturday night's performance as he prepares to top last week's pony dancing extravaganza that left judges speechless.

"I think people need to get off of Ed's case a little bit if I'm totally honest".

This week's musical entertainment came from Simple Minds and Rick Astley.
