Starting on January 1, new initiates at the club had to pay a whopping $200,000 - on top of recurring membership fees and taxes - in order to join the club, up from $100,000 past year, according to the CNBC report.
The resort, which is owned by the Trump Organization, has allegedly been considering an increase since before the election.
The club is "certainly a lot more crowded now that he's president", Jeff Greene, a Florida billionaire and Mar-a-Lago member told The Washington Post on Wednesday. The initiation fee has been $100,000 since 2012.
First comes the news, courtesy of Bloomberg, that "President Donald Trump's hotel company aims to eventually triple the number of Trump luxury hotels throughout the United States and will begin opening lower-priced hotels this year as well".
In a move that's crass even for Donald Trump, Mar-a-Lago has doubled its initiation fee to $200,000 since The Donald was elected.

Trump's made no secret of the fact that Mar-A-Lago's going to be his Winter White House.
The resort itself is 20 acres of land, with a 20,000-square-foot ballroom, beach club, large pool area, tennis courts, and restaurants. It will now be run by his two sons: Donald Trump Jr and Eric Trump.
