Along with Tango, the Zenfone AR is another smartphone which works with Google's Daydream VR platform and View headset, a nice bonus which ASUS takes advantage of with some software tricks that allow users to create their own VR experiences. Daydream on the other hand is Google's platform for mobile virtual reality apps. However, it is the first smartphone in the world to be compatible with both Google's Daydream VR platform and Tango AR platform. The Zenfone AR brings with it a 23MP camera, consisting of extra sensors in motion tracking and depth-sensing. "To give you even more choices to enjoy Daydream, today we're welcoming new devices that will soon join the Daydream-ready family", said Google's VP of Business and Operataion, VR and AR, Amit Singh. According to the release it has a 12MP, f/1.7-aperture, 25mm wide-angle main lens, along with a dedicated 12MP, 56mm camera for instant 2.3X optical zoom. The ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom has a Snapdragon 625 under its hood and will be fueled by a 5000mAh battery.
Lastly, the newly announced ASUS Zenfone AR has been turning heads all around.
The Zenfone 3 Zoom still has a main camera with optical zoom like its predecessors called Zenfone Zoom from previous year. This phone packs a beastly 5,000 mAh battery, which Asus claims is good for 6.4 hours of 4K video recording; a task that quickly chews through battery on most phones. It is designed around a machine vision with a camera also. This phone is packed with upto 8GB RAM and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat OS with Zen UI 3.0 on top.
