Statewide, New York State Police and local law enforcement agencies will be cracking down on unsafe driving Saturday, Sunday and early Monday morning, according to a news release from the office of Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Enforcement periods can include sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols and additional law enforcement on duty dedicated to impaired driving enforcement.
Last year, on Super Bowl Sunday, 69 people were killed in drunk-driving crashes.
The campaign begins Friday and runs thru the early morning hours Monday, February 6. The THSO's Booze It & Lose It campaign is a statewide mobilization to prevent impaired-driving crashes, injuries, and fatalities.
Johnson City police are stepping up DUI patrols this weekend. "We encourage everyone to always have a plan in place, either by having a designated driver or by getting a ride with someone who hasn't been drinking".
