ZOA on Holocaust: Trump Should 'Rectify Painful Omission'

White House press secretary Sean Spicer continued to defend the statement in a briefing Monday afternoon, and blasted those "picking on" its failure to mention Jews as "pathetic" and "nitpicking".

The White House in its statement on Holocaust Remembrance Day engaged in Holocaust denial.

He argued that Trump "went out of his way to recognize the Holocaust" and said the statement "was written with the help of an individual who's both Jewish and the descendent of Holocaust survivors".

The Zionist Organization of America expressed its "chagrin and deep pain" that a statement by the Trump administration marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day did not mention the Jewish victims of the Nazis.

Priebus went on to say he doesn't "regret the words", adding, "I mean, everyone's suffering in the Holocaust, including obviously all of the Jewish people affected and the miserable genocide that occurred, is something that we consider to be extraordinarily sad and something that can never be forgotten". But in the days since the January 27 statement - made on a date specifically chosen by the United Nations for such commemorations, as it is the anniversary of the 1945 liberation of Auschwitz - your spokespeople have doubled down, tripled down, nay, quadrupled down on the statement, explaining it as an attempt to show inclusivity in the realm of Holocaust remembrance.

"Hicks pointed those who inquired to an article which bemoaned the fact that, too often the "other" victims of the Holocaust were forgotten".

"It is with a heavy heart and somber mind that we remember and honor the victims, survivors, heroes of the Holocaust".

Hundreds march in Philadelphia to protest Trump, his plans
Trump has said he wants to wait for his Health and Human Services nominee Tom Price to be confirmed, so that he can weigh in. Lawmakers also plan to move quickly on a broad rewrite of the tax code that is expected to include deep cuts in tax rates.

"The Administration's omission of the Jewish people in a Holocaust remembrance statement is an historical mistake", she tweeted.

When reminded that even the Republican Jewish Coalition criticized the president for the Judenrein Holocaust statement, Spicer lashed out.

The Florida Holocaust Museum, 55 Fifth St.in St. Petersburg, is one of the largest Holocaust museums in the country, and one of three nationally accredited Holocaust museums, The FHM honors the memory of millions of men, women and children who suffered or died in the Holocaust.

Among those who criticised it was Jonathan Greenblatt, head of the Anti Defamation League, who said Holocaust Memorial Day was created to reflect on the "singular tragedy" of the annihilation of the Jewish people.

The Holocaust was a deliberate, systematic attempt by the Nazis to eliminate Jews from the face of the Earth. "The Holocaust was de-Judaized", Lipstadt said.

In any other time and place, White House chief of staff Reince Priebus would be howling about a Democratic administration issuing the same statement as the Trump administration. By putting forth this order on Holocaust Remembrance Day, Trump is proving he is insensitive to this day and the history behind it.
