German police swarmed the main train station in the city of Dusseldorf after an ax attack left several people injured, authorities said.
No other details were immediately available, including indications of a possible motive, police said.
She was unable to say how serious any of the injuries were.
Local media say at least four men stormed the central train station in Dusseldorf and went on a rampage while armed with the weapons.

A passenger on a Dusseldorf bound train, Bruno Macedo, tweeted: "Breaking: Man with axe chased by police in Dusseldorf. Station closed. I am in the train things look bad #police #terror".
