Officially, developer Bungie has only revealed the below teaser image for Destiny 2. The decision to finally confirm Destiny 2 was probably based on the "accidental" photo of a Destiny 2 poster showing off what looks like new guardians in combat.
What is interesting is that you'll be able to take your Destiny character with you into Destiny 2, but not everything.
Bungie and Activision want you to know that Destiny 2 is on its way. Now you see the connection between the release dates. So far the details about the "great cinematic story" of Destiny 2 are unclear but we can expect to see more about the sequel in a few weeks when the Age of Triumph event has concluded. While fans don't have an official release date, there was a poster leak with a European release date of September 8.
What platforms will it be playable on?The leak showed that the limited PC edition of the upcoming sequel comes in at €110 or US$119. Switch owners are likely also out of luck, since Nintendo's console is comparatively under-powered. That could mean PS4 gamers will get early access to DLC and perhaps the beta, which is also hinted at by the leaked poster.

It shows that other games such as "FIFA 18", "Red Dead Redemption 2" and "Tekken 7" are already available for pre-orders. The game is expected to hit stores on September 8, based on the same poster, but it's unclear if this is a global launch date or if fans in North America - where games typically release on Tuesday, not Friday - can expect to see Destiny 2 a bit earlier in the month. We'll get to that later, but for now, let's talk about what is now official.
What are the rumoured features?
Perhaps in Destiny 2, that will be a different story. Will Bungie continue to double down on the audience that they gained with the first game, or will they try to branch out more? "We also plan to award those veteran accounts with honors that reflect your Destiny 1 accomplishments". Character designs (race, gender, and face) will all be kept for the second game, but any progression or loot will be lost - so you don't get to keep your Light Level or that sweet sword you found.
