The City of Dallas later said in a statement that the 911 call center was jammed with calls on Saturday because of an ongoing issue with T-Mobile.
"If you've got a T-Mobile phone service, be very, very careful because you may not be able to get into 911", Dallas mayor Mike Rawlings said.
Police officials have used overtime to beef up staffing in the 911 call center. "There's no timetable for when the problem will be solved", the company said. She estimates that from the time of the babysitter's first 911 call to the moment she got Brandon to the hospital, about one hour and forty-five minutes had passed.
She was on hold with 911 for more than 30 minutes and never got through to a dispatcher. Not all T-Mobile phones are making the calls, and the "ghost calls" increase at random times.
'This is an unacceptable situation and the citizens of Dallas deserve better, ' Broadnax said.
"T-Mobile has acknowledged the issue, and says it's working with city officials on resolving it".
