Microsoft has revealed a brand new Xbox One controller they are dubbing the "Tech Series".

Although the form factor is exactly the same as the one in the box, the Recon Tech controller offers a laser-etched texture and a rubberised grip on the rear.

The controller will go on sale worldwide April 25 for $69.99 or your regional equivalent. Does the Xbox One need more models of controller? It will also have the same features as other Xbox One controllers and works on both Windows 10 PCs and Samsung Gear VR.

"The Xbox team was inspired by military technology and performance patterns, exploring concepts stemming from combat armor and sci-fi mechanical gear", wrote Xbox Live's Larry Hryb on the Major Nelson blog. Kicking off with a controller with a military inspired design, the new series is set to feature some stylized offerings that should add a little extra flavor to the Xbox Wireless Controller lineup. Also, the custom button mapping feature is available through the Xbox Accessories App. Instead it's another in a long line of options that allow gamers to choose how their Xbox One experience will play out.

In addition to the new controller, a new Xbox One update will be coming out later this year.
