British police said on Monday they had found no evidence that Khalid Masood, who killed four people in an attack on Britain's parliament last week, had any association with Islamic State or Al Qaeda, but he was clearly interested in jihad. They were injured as the attacker plowed through crowds walking across Westminster Bridge. So far, 12 people have been arrested in relation to the attack, CNN reported.
Police believe the culprit acted alone.
Investigators piecing together Masood's background describe an intelligent but angry man who became estranged from school friends in Kent shortly after leaving secondary school in the 1980s, and had a history of violent explosions often involving knives.
More details were revealed about the killer's family. Home Secretary Amber Rudd said Sunday that such services must not "provide a secret place for terrorists to communicate with each other".
He was dismissed as a peripheral figure.
"There has been much speculation about who Masood was in contact with immediately prior to the attack", Basu said.
