United Continental Holdings Inc UAL.N said on Friday Chief Executive Oscar Munoz will not become chairman in 2018, under an amendment to his employment agreement approved after an uproar over the treatment of a passenger. The company said in a regulatory filing that about $6.8 million U.S. of the total was related to a signing bonus that Munoz was promised in 2016.
The House Transportation Committee also plans to call witnesses from United to testify on the matter, according to Fortune.
United Airlines made news last week after it forcibly removed a passenger from one of its overbooked flights to make place for a crew member. In today's "United-drags-a-person-of-color-off-of-an-airplaine" news, United Airlines detained a Mexican passenger because they thought he might be "trafficking" the little girl who was traveling with him.
The airline has been under heavy scrutiny since video of the incident was shared worldwide.

Dao's forceful removal by three aviation officers, who yanked him from his seat and dragged him bloodied through the aisle, was captured on now-viral video by fellow passengers. However, the poll from Public Policy Polling found that despite Trump's low job approval, only 27 percent said they would rather have Vice President Mike Pence take over.
Munoz took the top spot at United in 2015 during trying times for the company.
