Garrett a No. 1 pick? Sapp says 'No, no, no'

26 April, 2017

It's almost time for the NFL Draft, and Myles Garrett is a likely number 1 pick.

The general consensus is that once the 2017 NFL Draft kicks off the Cleveland Browns will select Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett first overall.

Sapp recently stated that Garrett was "lazy" and disappears in some games, which is the opposite of what Finebaum thinks.

While there are plenty of doubters who believe the defensive end will not be successful in the National Football League, former defensive lineman and Hall of Famer Warren Sapp appears to have taken the top spot from ESPN personality Booger McFarland.

Sapp said he thinks Garrett is worse than 2000 No. 1 pick Courtney Brown, and believes Garrett's status is down to teams obsessing over measurables. "You're going to get a good player, maybe a couple of them".

The Browns are in a fantastic position heading into this draft.

Browns head coach Hue Jackson and executive vice president of football operations Sashi Brown are on the hot seat.

Garrett is confident he can be the one to kick-start the Browns defensively if they choose him with the first draft pick.

Now, as Garrett is closing in on becoming the first defensive lineman drafted No. 1 overall since Jadeveon Clowney in 2014, Sapp wonders how important the game is to him. Where? I watch the tape and he disappears. Most mock drafts have the San Francisco 49ers taking Thomas with the second pick, and ESPN's Todd McShay has the Chicago Bears completing the early run on defensive linemen by taking Allen at No. 3. "This year, you go back and watch the UCLA game - before he has the ankle injury - and he's absolutely all over the place and dominating two offensive tackles for UCLA". There's some thought that Cleveland might have to trade ahead of the Jets at No. 6 if they really want the North Carolina QB. Plus, some of them may be available when Cleveland in on the board at No. 12. They could end up with this year's best overall player, and this year's top signal-caller.

That means the Browns have four of the first 52 picks, giving them ample opportunity to improve their franchise in a hurry if they make the right choices.
