Yust is also the ex-boyfriend of another missing Missouri woman, Kara Kopetsky, who disappeared in 2007 at age 17. It's unclear how long it could take to get an identification.

Detectives with the Cass County Sheriff's Office are continuing to search the area near East 233rd and State Route Y (which is located 45 minutes south of Kansas City, Missouri) for additional evidence and remains.

Runions was spotted driving her SUV around 9:30 p.m. the night of her disappearance and her burned vehicle was found two days later.

Yust had been seen with Kopetsky several times in the months leading up to her disappearance. The women said they came away with no assurances that the bones might belong to their daughters. "But while we were sitting there they told us the identification wouldn't come in (Tuesday)".

Authorities arrested Yust in September 2016 on suspicion of knowingly burning Runions' vehicle, the news site reported. A judge entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.

Kopetsky disappeared one week after she filed a protection order against her boyfriend, Kylr Yust. She has been missing since 2007. A hearing was scheduled for May 10, 2007 but Kopetsky went missing six days before the hearing. The same report quotes the witness as they tell police Yust confessed to them that he had "killed people".

'I can't put it any other way, but I hate him, ' Kopetsky's mom, Rhonda Beckford, told KCTV in September. "I hate him for taking not only my child, but possibly taking another". Runions was last seen in the company of Kylr Yust, who has been charged with burning her auto, which was found two days after her disappearance in a wooded area near where she was last seen.

"She knows that if she's having a bad day that she can call us, and our phone is always open and we're always going to answer", Rhonda Beckford told The Star hours before Runions' remains were identified. "Here we are, still waiting, yet again". A second human skull was located in the same search area.

Runions' family has searched rural areas almost every weekend since she went missing.

The skull findings follow the discovery of two dead bodies, over two consecutive weeks in January.
