North Korea has already conducted a number of weapons tests this year, including firing a ballistic missile into the waters off the Korean Peninsula last week, ahead of Trump's meeting with Xi. The launches are considered to be in violation with the corresponding resolution adopted by the United Nations.

But, the U.S.is running out of options in dealing with the threat posed by the North Korean leader, according to Ret.

Trump is not Obama and he isn't taking months to plan military actions.

US aircraft carrier the USS Carl Vinson has been diverted to the Western Pacific instead of sailing from Singapore to Australia, the navy said, amid escalated tensions on the Korean peninsula over North Korea's nuclear weapons program.

Mr Chang said Chinese leader Xi Jinping would have considered the strike as a "sign of disrespect to him".

Al-Assad thanked Kim for recognising the Syrian struggle to "meet such challenges as sinister actions of the world's terrorists and encouraged Syria to successfully weather the crisis without fail", North Korean media said.

North Korea now has the strength to "wipe out" the United States "in a moment" with an H-bomb, the editorial said.

The Hollywood Reporter said Fox followed up the tape with a brief discussion about why Trump's behavior was inappropriate. But questions about Bannon - once widely viewed as untouchable - exploded this week after he was removed from the NSC.

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, without directly naming North Korea, told ABC News, "If you violate worldwide agreements, if you fail to live up to commitments, if you become a threat to others, at some point a response is likely to be undertaken".

"The US missile attack against Syria is a clear and unforgivable act of aggression against a sovereign state and we strongly condemn this", KCNA quoted an unnamed spokesman for the North Korean foreign ministry as saying. The missile barrage enhances Trump's image as a leader willing to use US military power quickly and in a precision-strike manner - which is exactly the scenario that concerns North Korea most.

The Carl Vinson Strike Group was making a port call in Singapore and was scheduled to sail for Australia when the U.S. Pacific Command ordered the ships to sail north instead.

"It's a signal that Trump's administration will not only talk, they will act", said Wang Dong, Associate Professor and Director of the School of International Studies at Peking University.

Others pointed out that the fact that North Korea already has nuclear capabilities and the potential threat to USA allies South Korea and Japan make it unlikely that Washington would risk military action.

The North also is known to have a large stockpile of chemical and biological weapons.

That threat holds merit now with the surprise US missile attack against Syria on Thursday.
