A gunman opened fire in an Equinox Fitness Club in the Shops at Merrick Park in Coral Gables, a city south of Miami resulting in one death and two injuries, the Miami Herald reported.

A Coral Gables police officer patrolling the mall was told by a security officer shortly before 1 p.m. that shots had been fired, said chief Ed Hudak.

"It appears to be an ex-employee, managerial dispute that triggered this shooting", Miami-Dade Police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said. Witnesses report hearing five shots and say Wilson opened fire on a man standing behind the counter at the gym.

Anais Michelle said she was walking into the mall with her mother when she saw people coming down from the third level, some crying about a shooting at the gym.

"I had just left Equinox", Shed Boren told the newspaper.
