In another decision with regards to Energy department, the Yogi cabinet also decided that the damaged transformers would have to be replaced within 48 hours unlike in 72 hours previously, Sharma said and added that a roaster of 24 hours electricity in district headquarters, 20 hours in tehsil headquarters and 18 hours in rural areas have been decided. "The government is working for providing 24-hour power supply by October 2018", he said.
Yogi Adityanath-led UP government is likely to approve the proposed plan for 24-hour power supply through an agreement with the Centre. The decision was announced by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and state's Power Minister Shrikant Sharma, who was addressing a press conference in Lucknow.
The chief minister also asked the power department to ensure that defective transformers in rural areas were replaced immediately.
