Jose Mourinho has noted that Manchester United have given up on the Premier League as a route into the Champions League next season following their 2-0 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday.
Mourinho made eight changes for the match ahead of United's Europa League semi-final second leg against Celta Vigo on Thursday.
Granit Xhaka's deflected shot and Danny Welbeck's powerful header kept Arsenal's top-four hopes alive and gave Wenger his first-ever competitive victory over Mourinho. We need to play a very solid game against Celta; we have an advantage but I'm sure they will come here hoping to turn the tables and they will be a unsafe team.
"It was a patiently built win where in the first half you could see we were a bit nervous, in the second half we took the edge off and scored the goals".
UNITED finally saw their 25-game unbeaten streak ended as they lost 2-0 to Arsenal on Sunday. "It's the first time I leave Highbury or the Emirates Stadium and they're happy", he said.
"I liked very, very much individual performances and I liked [them] collectively", Mourinho said. The bigger picture for Arsenal is that they remain in contention for a top-four finish that may convince some of the doubters that Wenger is worth a new contract when his current deal expires at the end of the season.

"Arsène Wenger is not a small manager, he's a big manager - to have that record of winning so many matches [against him] is not normal". You think I enjoy a big club like Arsenal not winning big trophies? "We had just one blip but overall we look a bit more stable".
Mourinho insisted United were unlucky as he also said their top four hopes were over.
"There's still a mathematical chance", Wenger said as his side moved to within six points of fourth-placed Manchester City.
"It can help all the young players coming through the system to believe they can do it. Marcus Rashford was an example and now I'm an example, Tim Fosu-Mensah and Scott are examples. We'll focus on Wednesday, thank you".
