Phil's interview with Hernandez's fiancée, Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez, today, she shared that their 4-year-old saw her father in prison once to twice a week before he committed suicide on April 19, but had "no idea" that the former National Football League star was incarcerated.
A two-part interview with Jenkins-Hernandez is scheduled to air on the "Dr. Phil " show on Monday, May 15 and Tuesday, May 16. She said he was upbeat in their last telephone conversation before he was found hanged and there was no indication he was suicidal.
Hernandez, 27, hanged himself with a bed sheet in his jail cell April 19, five days after he was acquitted in a 2012 double murder.
A MA prisons report says Aaron Hernandez was outwardly elated after his acquittal in a double murder trial and did not appear to have thoughts of suicide in the days before he killed himself in his prison cell.
"Aaron was spiritual, but he wasn't the kind of guy to get up every Sunday and go to church", said Jenkins in her interview.
According to Jenkins-Hernandez, she and the rest of Aaron's loved ones were completely shocked when the former Patriot was found guilty of murder.
Dr. Phil asked her specifically about the neat handwriting on the one-page note - which she took as a "note of love" and not a goodbye letter.

Shayanna says Hernandez appeared so optimistic that she didn't believe it when someone called her to tell her he was dead.
In fact, it has since been theorized that the real motivation for Lloyd's murder was that Lloyd knew about Hernandez's homosexual tendencies and threatened to tell Shayanna, who was his girlfriend's sister. Jenkins Hernandez said the two "boys" are a godson and D.J. Hernandez, Aaron's brother. It was looking so bright. "We were going up a ladder, in a sense, to a positive direction", she said.
Some inmates have said Hernandez had become increasingly spiritual during his time in prison, but Jenkins-Hernandez said the bible verse didn't sound like Hernandez and he'd never mentioned it to her.
One note was written to his fiancée (Jenkins-Hernandez), one note was written to his 4-year-old daughter, but it's still unclear for whom the third note was written.
"We're both very into slow jams", she said.
"It screamed love, but it wasn't personal". She thought daddy was at work.
Members of the Hernandez family are investigating his death independently, believing he was murdered instead. "Until we can get in there and do our own investigation and I actually trust where the answers are coming from, maybe I can have some comfort in the truth". There were some odd parts where it just didn't make sense, it wasn't clicking in my head as far as what he may have been thinking or what he was trying to say.
