In her acceptance speech, Emma said that while the award may mean a lot of things to different people for her it is something about what it means to act.
Emma won the first acting award not separated by gender for her performance as Belle in Beauty And The Beast.
"But to me it indicates that acting is about the ability to put yourself in someone else's shoes and that doesn't need to be separated into two different categories".

Beauty and the Beast was the Movie of the Year, with its star, Emma Watson, the Best Actor in a Movie.

It's excellent to see that award go to someone who understands the importance of such a move.

Movies "Hidden Figures", the "Fast and Furious" franchise and Trevor Noah of "The Daily Show" were also winners on the night. The movie nominees included Watson for Beauty and the Beast, Get Out's Daniel Kaluuya, Hailee Steinfeld, Taraji P. Henson, Hugh Jackman, and James McAvoy.
