Following its 20-10 victory over No. 4 Penn State in Friday's NCAA semifinals, Maryland's women's lacrosse team secured its fifth consecutive national championship game appearance. Maryland is the favorite heading into the game and is looking to win its first national title since 1975. Sadly, Hubley was unable to play in Friday's night game after suffering a serious knee injury in last Saturday's stunning upset of defending national champion North Carolina. Maryland (23-0) won its third title in the last four years and the 13th in program history. After Albany freshman TD Ierlan won the first five draws against Austin Henningsen, senior Jon Garino Jr. took over, won 12 of 14, and the Terps quickly built an insurmountable lead as they dominated possession time. Just 10 minutes into the game, Maryland held a 3-1 lead thanks to three different goal scorers.
Kent kept Boston College close with three straight goals to cut the margin to 11-9, then assisted on Dempsey Arsenault's goal with 14 minutes left to get the Eagles back within a goal.

"It was a heck of a game tonight", head coach Cindy Timchal said after the game.
With the scoreline at 10-8, Maryland, the game took a similar turn as the later end of the first period.
