The first round of the National Football League draft had players from Temple and Western Michigan off the board before players from Alabama. It was a rather memorable three days with a rowdy Philadelphia crowd that didn't disappoint. On the other end of the line, he was informed the Baltimore Ravens were taking him in the fifth round of the draft. General manager Ozzie Newsome certainly did that.
Humphrey got a fist pump from a Ravens' fan before his selection was even announced. The retirement of Zachary Orr due to injury, the release of Elvis Dumervil and the advancing age of Terrell Suggs (34) put the Ravens in need someone capable of chasing down a quarterback.
The Ravens entered the draft with plenty of needs - most notably wide receiver, pass rusher and cornerback.

Bowser will have the opportunity to compete with Matt Judon, Za'Darius Smith and fellow rookie Tim Washington (third-round pick from Alabama) for the job. Instead of providing second-year passer Carson Wentz a home-run threat at running back or wide receiver, Executive Vice President of Football Operations Howie Roseman spent his first three picks on players for Jim Schwartz's already-fearsome defense. However, Corey Davis, Mike Williams and John Ross each went in the top 10.
