With the merging of different platform players arriving this Summer, it will mark a new approach to gaming - one that isn't hindered by console, but instead expands across the whole width and breadth of online servers.
According to the Verge, the Better Together update also brings some exciting news for players who play Minecraft across different devices. There are now more than 55 million users who play Minecraft every month. More servers will follow, but no further information was provided on that front.
This includes the most basic, obvious and awesome servers at launch: Mineplex, inPVP, Lifeboat, and Cubecraft. Minecraft won't charge users extra fro this. This means that whichever worlds you have been working on before the switch, you will still be able to play there again.
At E3, the Minecraft team announced the Better Together Update, which will bring the console, mobile, and Windows 10 versions of the game together under a single edition, meaning you can play with those on other platforms for the first time.

That convergence also means playing multiplayer games on a variety of hardware is easier - something called cross-play. And that groups of people across different platforms can not play together either.
Finally, Mojang is changing one of Minecraft's most defining features, the way it looks.
Both the Java and Wii U editions of the game will continue to receive updates, Microsoft said. Minecraft dev, Mojang, released a list of platforms that would feature cross-play after the Xbox conference, and Sony's console was noticeably absent.
Microsoft's desire for convergence has its limits, though.
"We have no intention to push people one way or other", said Minecraft communications manager Aubrey Norris. The developers have done a special version of the game that runs in 4K resolution, demonstrates a wider range of colors with improved lighting, shadows and water effects. Microsoft's Tom Stone explains. This will be introduced in a free Super Duper Graphics Pack that can be installed in the game to make everything much prettier and more realistic provided you can look past the cubic system.
