The state-run Chinese media today expressed fears of tensions between India and Pakistan over Kashmir presenting largest challenge to Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and its anti-terrorism mechanism.
He emphasized that since then the SCO has gained worldwide recognition and become the effective platform of multifaceted cooperation.
-The resource-rich grouping of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation collaborates on trade, economy, connectivity, energy, transport and banking.
It is tempting to see India's SCO membership as out of character, given India's traditional hostility to Pakistan and Modi's general inclination to balance against China rather than accommodate it.
It is the first meeting between the two leaders after India boycotted the high-profile Belt and Road Forum held in Beijing last month in which 29 world leaders took part.
"SCO membership is prestigious and special for Pakistan and Islamabad considers this as a very important development as it provides of important economic and strategic linkages".

The prime minister began his address at the SCO Summit by congratulating President Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan for successful leadership and excellent organization of the SCO Summit.
China had also stalled India's move to list Masood Azhar, chief of Pakistani terror outfit Jaish e Mohamad (JeM) as a global terrorist by the UN.
