Six months and one day after Donald Trump took office as the 45th president of the United States, The New York Times reported July 21 that Spicer has chose to resign as the White House Press Secretary.
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer speaks during a briefing in the Brady Briefing Room of the White House on March 24.
The people with knowledge of the decision insisted on anonymity because they were not authorised to discuss the personnel matter publicly.
Spicer, who battle relentlessly with the press, and never seemed to have the full confidence of the President, will officially leave the White House in August. After Mike Dubke stepped down as White House communications director, the press secretary has barely beenseen giving his regular press briefing behind the podium.

The New York Times also reported that White House chief of staff Reince Priebus attempted to block the nomination.
Scaramucci had once expected to be named the head of the White House office that coordinates the administration's outreach to the business community and other interest groups.
Watch The White House's official response below. It appears that it took Spicer stepping down to get Huckabee Sanders in front of a camera. The source said Trump has known Scaramucci for years and likes him. He ultimately ended up taking on a senior role at the Export-Import Bank. That became a sticking point with several members of the White House press corps, who expressed concern that the White House was attempting to stonewall the press and their access to the information they rely on to try and report on the President.
And his job performance in the months since continued to stoke reports about Trump's anger over Spicer's ineptitude at defending him to the press.
But Scaramucci's appointment rocked a West Wing that was deeply divided over Scaramucci's hire, with sources telling CNN that both Priebus and Bannon fiercely opposed Scaramucci's hire while the President's son-in-law and daughter, who are both top advisers, encouraged the move.
