From September 1-September 3, Disney will promote Star Wars: The Last Jedi by creating an AR game in its app. Disney has updated the Star Wars app for iOS to version 2.3.1, and players can unlock a character early by scanning an image on the Star Wars website.

"We are excited that augmented reality will allow fans to experience the universe in a whole new way", Kathleen Kennedy, the president of the Disney-controlled Lucasfilm, which is responsible for the cinematic series that originated in 1977, said.
"Star Wars", one of Disney's most important franchises, was the US toy industry's top-selling property for 2015 and 2016, with $1.5 billion in sales over the two years, according to research firm NPD.

Force Friday II puts fans right at the center of the action using augmented reality to bring our characters to life like never before.
It's a departure from the Force Friday blitz in 2015, which featured an 18-hour live-streamed unboxing of the products in promotion of "The Force Awakens".
Fans will find special "Find the Force" logos scattered around. There will be up to five different displays in the larger stores, and you'll see as many as 15 different characters: Chewbacca, Admiral Ackbar, and Supreme Leader Snoke's Praetorian Guard among them.
If you've ever wanted to meet Star Wars characters, a Disney promo with Apple and other retail stores will offer the chance to do the next best thing. A new character will supposedly be revealed on the first day, September 1st.
Download the Star Wars app (for iPhone® and Android™) and launch the "Find The Force" feature. The app encourages social-media sharing of your character experiences, with the big carrot urging that you share being a sweepstakes contest that closes September 3.
