"The Blackout" is the second advance from the new U2 and the official first single, "You're The Best Thing About Me", releases September 6. And from what I've heard, U2 is very serious about putting out songs that will get radio airplay.

U2 is releasing the new songs as the band tours North America to mark the 30th anniversary of "The Joshua Tree", generally considered its definitive album. The online magazine adds that the next title to hit the web will be You're the Best Thing About Me.

"#U2TheBlackout #U2SongsofExperience "In the darkness where we learn to see".

Songs of Experience will be available on World Aids Day in conjunction with Project Red, an initiative set up by Bono to raise funds to fight the disease.

Songs of Experience was originally set to be released previous year, but they postponed due to the rather unsteady state of the world leading up to and following the US Election.

Bono says the new album will feature "proper, proper f-k-off songs". If you were played only the song and weren't told who it was by, it could easily be mistaken for a new song by The Killers. "They take their new material seriously, in a way that the Rolling Stones don't".

"I had a listen to it at Bono's house and it's not unlike Songs of Innocence, or the Joshua Tree".
