Facebook acknowledged the outage in a statement sent to CNNMoney.

Saturday morning turned out to be social-media-free for a number of Facebook and Instagram users, albeit involuntarily. Here is a compilation of some of the best tweets to come out of the trending #facebookdown on Twitter this morning.

While some users couldn't upload pictures, like posts, or send messages, others said the website was working fine.
