Belgian soldiers shot dead a man in the centre of Brussels on Friday evening after he came at them with a knife, shouting Allahu Akbar (God is great), in a case authorities are treating as a terrorist attack. "Soldiers at the scene responded".
The Belgian Prime Minister, Charles Michel, expressed "all our support to our soldiers" in a Twitter post.
The prosecution service's spokeswoman said, 'With the identity that we now have it is a 30-year-old man who is not known for terrorist activities'.
Police confirmed that a man had been "neutralised" after an attack on several soldiers.
The Flemish outlet cites radio reports which suggest one of the slain man's victims is critically injured.
