CNN's Kirsten Powers said Wednesday night that President Trump believes his daughter and adviser Ivanka Trump "isn't that impressive to people" and is treated as a "prized possession" by her father.

But the first daughter walked into the Oval Office to talk specifically about the child tax credit, a key priority in her White House portfolio.

"This is the president of the United States", Powers added.

After receiving a rousing ovation, Trump then responded with a cringeworthy "Thank you, honey. She said, 'Dad, can I go with you?'" "Come on up, honey".

While Mr Trump was speaking to The New York Times in July, Ms Trump and her daughter Arabella Kushner came in to say "hello" as he was answering a question about fired FBI Director James Comey's testimony on Capitol Hill. Suffice it to say that in this context, the squick factor comes from a combination of Trump's preference for being called "Daddy" and his jokes on more than one occasion about how he'd date Ivanka if the two weren't related.

Along with stopping by at his meetings, Ms Trump has frequently accompanied her father to events.

Mr Trump added that his daughter had asked to join him on the trip.

Ivanka Trump herself has also been criticized this week for failing to speak out against the Trump administration's repeal of DACA, the policy that gives residence rights to immigrants who moved to the U.S.as children and have nearly exclusively been educated in the country and contribute to the American workforce.

If you're somehow not already creeped out by the dynamic between Trump and his oldest daughter, it's going to be hard to explain why you should be.

"He has total respect for women", she's said.
