England limited-overs skipper Eoin Morgan came in support of the decision to rest Durham all-rounder Ben Stokes for the one-off Twenty20 global against West Indies to be played on Saturday in Chester-le-Street.
Durham County Cricket Club said: "During the course of the second innings between England v West Indies, three spectators were injured when a small section of the North-East Terrace flooring became unstable causing them to fall".
England, set 177 for victory, were bowled out for 155 at a chilly and rainswept Riverside. He now has 103 sixes in 52 matches.
The North East ambulance service responded to a 999 call from the ground and took one of the injured parties to Newcastle's RVI Hospital, with "non life-threatening injuries", later confirmed as a broken leg. Conditions were soft and slippery, the umpires were close to calling it off actually, ' Carlos Brathwaite said.
But Yorkshire's Plunkett, who is in the England squad for the match, feels the time may be right to rest Stokes.
Jerome Taylor then gave West Indies the flawless start and silenced the capacity crowd, when he had Roy caught at backward point with the first ball of the chase.
Brathwaite caught England Test skipper Joe Root (17) on the drive off Ashley Nurse.

England and West Indies begin a five-match one-day worldwide series in Manchester on Tuesday.
