The US trip came between two visits of Mr Gandhi to Gujarat, where the Congress started its campaign considerably later than the BJP. The primary itinerary shows that Modi will also visit Rajkot to lay the foundation stone for International Airport at the city before moving to South Gujarat for another infrastructure project for Bhaddbhut weir in Bharuch District.
The BJP president kicked off the first phase of the yatra, organised by the state unit of the party ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls due later this year, from Karamsad yesterday. "We are seeking an answer from you (the Congress) for injustices that the three generations of your rule did to us", the BJP president was quoted by PTI.
Two motorised raths have been prepared to facilitate party state president Jitu Vaghani and deputy chief minister Nitin Patel's trip through the state and several SUVs painted in the colour of the party will travel along with them during the march. Today, Amit Shah also took a swipe at Rahul Gandhi's recent visit to the U.S., calling it a vacation.
Launching the yatra from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's native place Karamsad in Gujarat, Shah said, "The BJP today launches Gujarat Gaurav Yatra from the same land of Sardar Patel from where he raised the voice of the farmers and started the work to unify the country".
