Google explains how it makes personalized battery life predictions
Google Pixel and Pixel Xl gets new features along with Android 8.1 Developer Preview

However, so far, the launch has been marred by several issues that have annoyed Pixel 2 buyers. Little touches like swiping down on the fingerprint sensor to bring down your notifications and squeezing your phone to prompt the Google Assistant are awesome, and the latest update to both the Pixel and Pixel 2 now allows you to get much more personalized battery stats.

A Google product manager said, "Previously, your phone would estimate your battery loss with simple assumptions". Google claims that it will assume you will continue to use 10 percent of battery per hour based on your previews hours usage. The feature relies on a new on-device model that evaluates how you use your phone over time. Using all these data the built-in model will personalize the prediction for how long exactly the battery will go.

With an updated Pixel phone, you can head to the Settings menu and then to the Battery section to receive a personalised battery estimate; it'll give you a percentage for the battery as usual, but also an estimated time remaining before that's depleted. Further, one can also view the information in the form of a graphical representation. A tap on the battery icon will show you the results in a graphical manner. Other changes include the new app drawer which will now initiate search including your history apart from installed apps.
