Special Counsel Robert Mueller now has sufficient evidence to bring charges against President Trump's former national security advisor Michael T. Flynn and his son, NBC News announced today, citing multiple sources familiar with Mueller's investigation.
News reported Sunday Flynn and his son, Michael G. Flynn, are in Mueller's crosshairs a week after the special counsel announced three people were charged in his investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.
Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn served as Trump's national security adviser for just 24 days until he was forced to quit due to accusations he had contact with Russia's ambassador to the USA and misled the White House about the conversations.
Mueller is pressuring Flynn to cooperate with the investigation and is apparently using the former national security adviser's son as leverage. They are former campaign manager Paul Manafort, and former campaign aides Rick Gates and George Papadopoulos.
Mr Gullen is a rival of Recep Erdogan, the Turkish President.
Federal investigators reportedly started interviewing witnesses about Flynn's lobbying work, and looked into whether that he tried to participate in a scheme to assist the Turkish government in exchange for millions of dollars.

Journalist Mark Halperin is accused of sexually harassing five women
Halperin says he pursued relationships, sometimes with junior co-workers, but CNN says he denies the groping allegations. Halperin began working for ABC News in 1988 and was promoted to political director in 1997.
It was reported that Mr Flynn could face less severe charges if he cooperates with Mr Mueller's team and that could also benefit his son. Flynn's firm hired SGR as part of its work with Inovo.
It's not clear if the request came from the State Department, as is normal, or from Flynn.
At issue is Flynn's lobbying work. Flynn later retroactively registered as a foreign lobbyist this year.
Mueller's spokesman declined to comment to NBC News, as did lawyers for both Flynns.
A former business associate of Michael Flynn's told NBC News that Flynn Jr. had a prominent role in Flynn Intel Group's day-to-day operations and served as his father's chief of staff.
