Prior to his tweet, Trump had said that he dismissed Flynn for lying to Pence, but this is the first time he had said anything in regards to Flynn lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. But, given Strzok's role in this investigation as well as others, it more likely will only increase speculation that the FBI is not acting honestly.
Former senior adviser to President Barack Obama, Dan Pfeiffer, tweeted, "If Trump keeps admitting to obstructing justice, Ty Cobb might be right that the Mueller investigation may wrap up sooner than we think".
The White House did not immediately return a request for comment on Trump's tweet.
Some experts say that if the President did, in fact, know Flynn had lied to the FBI back in February, his efforts to get former FBI Director James Comey to end the investigation into Flynn and then firing Comey in May could be considered obstruction of justice.
"Comey wrote in his opening testimony that Trump said: "'I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go.

"I clarify that my client has already defended himself against the charges and maintains he played no part in the incident". He would spend five years in Italy before moving to China with Guangzhou Evergande and then onto Atletico Mineiro in 2016.
Mr Flynn was the first member of Trump's administration to plead guilty to a crime uncovered by special counsel Robert Mueller's wide-ranging investigation into Russian attempts to influence the 2016 USA presidential election and possible collusion by Trump aides. Court records say Flynn contacted the Russian ambassador on December 22 about the Trump administration's opposition to a United Nations resolution against Israeli settlements. Though White House officials including Pence had stated publicly that Flynn had not discussed sanctions with Kislyak, Yates has said she advised McGahn that there were factual problems with that account. She was joined in the meeting by a senior career official in the Justice Department.
The revelations also undermine Trump's often repeated contention that the Russian Federation investigation is little more than a witch hunt being perpetrated by his political enemies. He helped lead the investigation into whether Hillary Clinton mishandled classified information on her private email account, and then played a major role in the investigation into links between President Trump's campaign and Russian Federation.
Mueller was appointed special counsel overseeing the Russian Federation investigation days later.
Mr. Strzok's reassignment shows that Mr. Mueller moved swiftly in the face of what could be perceived as bias by one of his agents amid a politically charged inquiry into Mr. Trump's campaign and administration.
