Amazon has just increased the cost of Prime membership from $10.99 to $12.99 per month, an 18% increase. Meanwhile, Prime Student now costs $6.49 a month, up from $5.49.

The most recent Prime subscription hike came in 2014 when the yearly membership went from $79 to $99. That annual membership price is not changing.

Amazon Prime's annual fee remains $99.

The new prices are now live on the Amazon Prime subscription page.

Generally, an investigation has discovered that Amazon Prime endorsers are important to the eCommerce retailer: They right now make a normal of $1,300 in buys every year - and they keep on growing their spending.

Earlier this month, Amazon said it shipped 5 billion Prime items in 2017. Amazon quietly raised the monthly Amazon Prime subscription prices today from $10.99 to $12.99.

Amazon Prime inflation on the way....

Amazon's monthly plan for Prime was introduced less than two years ago.

A study released past year by researcher Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) estimates that there are 90 million US -based Amazon Prime subscribers.

Inc. says existing monthly members will start paying the higher fees next month. Amazon's argument is pretty straightforward: "We give you lots and lots of stuff under Prime, that costs us money, so, unfortunately, we need a little more money from you".

First introduced in 2005 as a way for customers to receive free 2-day shipping, Amazon Prime now offers other perks, including Prime Music, Prime Video, Prime Reading, Prime Pantry, and more.

Remember, the service is poised to roll out a Lord of the Rings TV series in the near future, which could end up being the most expensive show ever made.

The investigation, which incorporates information from 500 Amazon clients, gauges Amazon Prime supporters spend twofold the $700 every year the normal non-part spends on the site.
