Former Michigan State and United States' gymnastic team physician Larry Nassar was sentenced to life imprisonment on Wednesday after he admitted to sexually abusing and molesting girls and women, who were receiving treatment from him.
Current or former members of the Michigan State gymnastics, volleyball, rowing, softball and track and field programs are among the 156 victims who testified or had statements read at Nassar's seven-day sentencing hearing, which concluded Wednesday.
"It is my honor and privilege to sentence you".
"You do not deserve to walk outside of a prison ever again", Aquilina told Nassar.
Hopefully no one will forget what happened, but numerous women who spoke at Nassar's sentencing have now been empowered to make sure no one will ever forget, and to prevent something like this from ever happening again.
