The England worldwide ended a 12-year association with the Gunners when he joined Everton in a £20 million deal this week, having fallen down the pecking order at Emirates Stadium.

'I'm very ambitious and I've come here because I want the club to push to the next level, ' he said.

"I felt the manager seems to get the best out of the players, especially when first coming in".

"When you're used to something for so long, it's a big decision to change things but I felt it was the right decision to do that". "With any player, if you're not playing you're going to be upset, but you need to try and dig deep and get into that position".

While Turkish striker Cenk Tosun has already made his debut for the club, after joining just this month, Everton have now also landed Arsenal outcast Theo Walcott this week. I've always had so much time for the fans and they've been great to me, through all our ups and downs.

"When you look at the minutes this season I've played I wasn't part of it so it was just getting the timing right. That's what I want to bring into this team: the goals, the assists", he said.

"There would have to be a few injuries and he'd have to majorly pull up trees at Everton, and the way Everton play, it's going to be hard to pull up trees".

England ace Walcott, 28, last night passed his medical and negotiated the final details of a long-term contract.

"I want to be part of something and I feel like this place will offer me that".

'I had numerous chats with Wayne and that was one massive factor which really tempted me to come to Everton, ' Walcott, 28, told Everton TV.

Walcott, a double FA Cup victor with Arsenal, says he made the switch in a bid to win more trophies.

Walcott joined Arsenal from Southampton in 2006 and scored 108 goals in 397 appearances for the Gunners.

Everton have won the league title nine times but not since 1987 and their last major trophy was their fifth FA Cup in 1995.
