Bon-Ton Stores Inc. recently announced the closing of 42 locations.
Bon-Ton's President and CEO says it's part of a comprehensive turnaround and the company is taking the next steps towards a more productive store footprint. In all, he expects 47 stores to close in the early parts of this year. "We remain focused on executing our key initiatives to drive improved performance in an effort to strengthen our capital structure to support the business going forward", Tracy said.
Employees at all closing locations will have the opportunity to interview for available positions at other store locations, according to the announcement.

The Nittany Mall is not the only shopping center losing a Bon-Ton in central Pennsylvania.
Milwaukee- and York, Pa.,-based Bon-Ton said on Wednesday it will close Carson's at Streets of Woodfield in Schaumburg, Riverside Plaza in Chicago and clearance centers in Aurora and Morton Grove.
There's no word from the mall who may take Bon-Ton's place.

"If this closes, I'm afraid it will go down", Pierce said.
