Former United States President George Bush on Thursday said there was "clear evidence" that Russian Federation had meddled in the 2016 usa presidential election, Reuters reported. Bush made the comments at a talk in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates. "Whether they affected the outcome is another question". "Our democracy is only as good as people trust the results".
The report did not elaborate whom in Russia Bush was accusing of interfering in the U.S. The report added that Bush was not naming Trump in his comments. Last year, for example, he said that Russian President Vladimir Putin was being completely honest when he insisted that he didn't order the hacking of the DNC.
"The decay of the Soviet Union is hard on him".
"He's got a chip on his shoulder", Bush said of Putin. That is why most of his actions aim at the return of Soviet hegemony.
The U.S. intelligence community concluded that Russia had in fact waged a campaign to influence the election in a way that would specifically harm Trump's Democratic rival Hillary Clinton and that Russian President Vladimir Putin was directly involved in the so-called "influence campaigns".
Russia meddled in 2016 US election, says George W Bush
Bush, a Republican, said as quoted by the daily that Putin "can't think, 'How can we both win?' He only thinks, 'How do I win, you lose?'" That is why North Atlantic Treaty Organisation is so important, "said the former U.S. president".
The United States has to reform its immigration laws, he said.
Separately, Bush also seemed to depart from Trump's hard-line policies on immigration, saying some immigrants are "willing to do jobs that Americans won't do".
Bush was speaking at a summit organized by the Milken Institute, a Santa Monica, California-based think tank.
Milken, who is a prostate cancer survivor, and his family have given hundreds of millions of dollars away in recent decades.
