After twice pushing back the start time for the first run of the slalom at Yongpyong Alpine Centre, officials chose to postpone Wednesday's race to Friday, meaning American star Mikaela Shiffrin must wait another day to begin her Olympics.
On February 4, Shiffrin tweeted she could not wait for her first event, but all Shiffrin has done is wait as high winds have caused several events be postponed.
It said the event will start at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, with the second run slated for 1:15 p.m. on the same day, reports Yonhap news agency.
PYEONGCHANG, South Korea-Winter weather at the Winter Olympics is to be expected.
Shiffrin, 22, is looking to defend her slalom Olympic gold medal from Sochi in 2014, a victory that made her the youngest ever to win gold in the event. North Korea's Kim Ryon-hyang was also set to make her debut.
Shiffrin is still facing back-to-back events, as she was under the originally revised schedule.
The committee will also offer refunds to those who are unable to attend the rescheduled competition.

More Russian athletes appeal Pyeongchang ban to CAS
Even if the athletes' appeal was successful it was highly unlikely for any of them to compete in South Korea. The PyeongChang Winter Olympics will be held from February 9 to 25.
Shiffrin has never reached the podium in a World Cup Super-G race.
"Neither of those were really achievable today", Kristofic said.
The slalom runs take place Tuesday evening in the USA, and in the early hours of the morning in the United Kingdom and Europe on Wednesday-with the start scheduled for 10:15 a.m. local time. "Weather delays and postponements are just the nature of an outdoor sport, but we'll continue to take it day by day and I look forward to getting in the start gate!"
"It compresses the schedule so it makes it a much more hectic five to six days as we approach the speed events", Kristofic said.
While some skiers, like Mikaela Shriffin of the US, will have to compete in back-to-back days because of the postponements, it seems like the safe call to keep athletes out of whiteout conditions as they fly down the mountain. Monday's wind-hit giant slalom has been rearranged for Thursday. And the second thing is: Have a good, fair race.
The conditions have cause both concern and debate - particularly after the International Ski Federation put off some skiing events, but not the women's snowboard slopestyle, which saw dozens of riders fall on their runs two days ago.
