Recently we reported that Alexa can record your favorite shows for you and now it looks like Amazon can help you with your family announcements.
The company introduced Alexa Announcements, a feature that effectively turns your Echo into an in-home intercom system if you have multiple speakers in your house.
For this to be useful, of course, you'll need more than one Echo (or Google Home, if you're in the Google ecosystem) and have them all assigned to the same household profile. It's possible to disable this feature through Alexa's settings menu, as well as to control whether the functionality works while the device is password locked.

To use the feature, you just say, "Hey Google, broadcast 'It's time for dinner!'" and your message will be sent through - but in the Assistant's voice, not your own.
