In-car delivery is available at no extra cost for Prime members and is available today in 37 cities and surrounding areas across the US with more cities rolling out over time. The service is available on millions of Amazon items and works with the same day, two-day and standard shipping options.
The tech giant has launched a new servicein 37 U.S. cities that delivers packages to the trunks of cars for free. After all, some experts say, many drivers now pay parking meters using an app on their phones, and rely on navigational services that know their location at any given time. The difference is this service will not use cloud-connected cameras or smart keys to help Amazon couriers gain access to the cars. Customers will need to add their auto to the Amazon Key app with a description of their vehicle so the couriers will be able to easily locate it.
For those who are anxious about security and think that it couldn't possibly be safe to have a stranger unlock their vehicle to leave a package inside the trunk, Amazon highlights that it has taken several security measures.
A final notification comes when the vehicle is locked with the package inside.

First, Amazon wanted to unlock your front door to safely drop deliveries inside your house. Amazon Key allows packages to be delivered inside the vehicle, which comes at no additional cost for Amazon Prime members with an active OnStar account.
Amazon already wants to leave packages in your home when you aren't there with Amazon Key, and now the company is expanding that to your auto. Call 12 for Action checked Providence zip codes and got the green light, but in-car delivery is not available for Fall River zip codes. Customers also get a notice of when their auto was unlocked and relocked so they know where things stand. Packages are placed in the vehicle's trunk or out of plain sight. A selection of alcohol is also available for delivery to customers in Sacramento and San Diego, Amazon said.
The second delivery was on a Saturday, and it was then I could really see the value. "How do they expect to find and unlock the trunk of my vehicle?" tweeted one person.
"Amazon's tentacles are everywhere", said Chester.
Another consideration is that Key In-Car has a raft of restrictions on user eligibility and what packages can delivered, which further limits its appeal.
