Foundation was originally written by Isaac Asimov - widely known as one of the most influential science-fiction writers in history - as a series of short stories published in Astounding Magazine between 1942 and 1950. Asimov eventually added two sequels and two prequels. The company has not said if it will distribute them through its own iTunes Store, where it sells shows and films by other companies, or on another platform. It's a complex saga involving humans being scattered across the galaxy on different planets under the influence of the Galactic Empire. A series version was formerly attempted at HBO in 2015 with Westworld executive producer Jonathan Nolan, according to Deadline, though none of those projects ever came to fruition given the books' vast scope. Goyer and Friedman will be executive producers and showrunners. At least now we will see progress in bringing the beloved sci-fi property to life on the small screen.
