The situation near the northern borders of Israel and southern borders of Syria has been in the spotlight of officials and media outlets recently since the Syrian army has been planning an offensive to recapture its southern territories from militants. The agreement would envisage the pullout of all Iranian forces from the area and require Syrian rebels to surrender heavy weapons.

"We need to sit down at the negotiating table", - said Russian politician.

More strikes by United States ally Israel have further raised fears that the devastating war, which has left more than 350,000 people dead, could yet escalate.

"So, they attacked those bases, and they destroyed a big part of our air defenses", he said, arguing that Israel continues to take advantage of that to this day. "This is why our Defense Ministry has been drawing our USA counterparts' attention to that fact and they seem to be coming to the same conclusion", the Russian top diplomat noted, adding that he expected practical steps to that end.

Iran's ambassador to Jordan, Mostafa Moslehzadeh, was said to have represented his country at the freaky negotiations - while several unnamed Israeli officials were in the next door room.

Israel and Russian Federation have agreed to deploy the forces of Syrian President Bashar Assad near the northern Israeli borders, the Channel 2 broadcaster reported on Tuesday, May 29, according to Sputnik.

A Syrian government offensive against Syria's rebel-held southwest-a region spanning parts of Daraa and Quneitra provinces-would shatter almost one year of calm in the region after the implementation of a American-, Russian- and Jordanian-backed de-escalation agreement in July 2017.

The southwest region is home to tens of thousands of people and forms a centre of the resistance.

The southwest is of concern to the United States, which past year brokered a "de-escalation" deal with Jordan and President Bashar al-Assad's Russian allies, which has largely contained the war near the frontier with Israel.

"The majority of the people who were against the the different liberated areas, actually in their hearts they are with the government", Assad said.

Assad also stated that Trump's invention of an insulting nickname did not move him or Syria in the slightest.

Responding to Trump's description of him as "Animal Assad", the Syrian leader said: "What you say is what you are".

The two nations have been engaged in a series of heated battles on the border with Syria as Iranian troops fired several rocket salvos at Israeli military targets in the Golan Heights.

Iran-backed Shi'ite militias, often spearheaded by Lebanon's Hezbollah, have played a critical role fighting in support of Assad.

In the TV interview, Assad maintained there are no Iranian troops in Syria, only Iranian officers advising the Syrian army. Syria's air defences were much stronger than before, thanks to Russian Federation, he added.
