Donald Tusk, the current President of the Council of the European Union has just articulated the feelings of many disgruntled EU leaders in saying that Donald Trump is a blessing in disguise because his unwillingness to treat the EU as an equal to the USA has opened up many eyes in Europe regarding delusions about geopolitical parity with the United States.
The EU should also be "grateful to President Trump", Tusk said, "because thanks to him we have got rid of all illusions".
The 28 anxious EU leaders are gathering in the Bulgarian capital for discussions on how to salvage the nuclear deal and European business dealings with Iran from Trump's sanctions.
US President Donald Trump arrives to pose for a family photo with participants of the G7 summit during the Summit of the Heads of State and of Government of the G7, the group of most industrialized economies, plus the European Union, on May 27, 2017 in Taormina, Sicily.

White House National Security Adviser John Bolton indicated on Sunday that the US would be willing to impose sanctions on any European companies that continue to work or do business with Iran.
Tusk also demanded that Trump grant a permanent exemption to the European Union from threatened tariffs on steel and aluminum, and he rejected as "absurd" any assertion by the that such tariffs could be justified on national security grounds.
"The EU and USA are friends and partners".
European Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos said the EU was willing to use legislation that would make it illegal for European companies to comply with U.S. sanctions imposed on Iran. Therefore U.S. tariffs can not be justified on the basis of national security. The Iran nuclear deal aims to prevent Tehran from developing a nuclear bomb.
If the European Union thinks that it can provoke the U.S. over the JCPOA while continuing to provoke JCPOA supporting Russian Federation while failing to meaningfully engage with China, then Donald Trump rather than Donald Tusk will likely have the last laugh. We must develop our economic sovereignty now. Tensions came to a head with the US president's decision announced last week to pull out of the landmark Iran nuclear accord which the remaining signatories-Russia, China, France, Germany and the United Kingdom, along with the EU-say is working and they will strive to keep in place. "But we need to be sure that we have done everything in our power, and within the limits of the global trade rules, to avoid a negative scenario", Tusk said.При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
