Joe Jackson, the legendary music manager, and father to iconic singers Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson has died at the age of 89. According to TMZ, Jackson was taken to a hospital in Las Vegas earlier this week.
His final days were surrounded by drama after his son Jermaine told press that he and his fellow family members were struggling to get information about his condition. His family including wife, Katherine, had been at his bedside, as well as his children and grandchildren.
Jackson had suffered poor health in recent years, having a stroke and three heart attacks in 2015, and spending time in hospital the year after. On June 21, son Jermaine told the Daily Mail, "He's very, very frail, he doesn't have long".

Over the following decades, millions would listen to both group and solo recordings by the Jackson 5 (who later became known as The Jacksons) and Michael would become one of the most popular entertainers in history.
His death came after he had been battling cancer "for some time", according to previous reports. The Jacksons were parents to 10 children: Michael, Janet, Rebbie, La Toya, Janet, Jermaine, Jackie, Tito, Marlon and Marlon's twin, Brandon, who died shortly after birth.
China lists United States import items for additional tariffs
Beijing also said "all economic and trade agreements reached by previous negotiations will be nullified at the same time". The warning from Beijing comes as the U.S. prepares to levy new tariffs on $50bn worth of Chinese imports.
Cristiano Ronaldo Records Hat Trick vs. Spain
It was an exciting start to one of the group-stage's most anticipated matches and it didn't take long before Ronaldo struck first. But you have the chance to work with a team with so many good players, young and experienced, it makes everything much easier.
Morocco vows new bid for World Cup after 2026 failure
Russia's Oleg Slanko holds the record for most individual goals in a single match, netting five goals against Cameroon in 1994. North America will host the six-team playoff tournament in November 2025 to decide the last two places in the 48-team lineup.
And Joe's daughter, La Toya Jackson, posted a clip from Life with La Toya that showed her with her father. "We always rehearsed. He's still a mystery man to me and he may always be one".
Jackson shepherded his sons through their growing fame, taking them from amateur competitions to professional gigs and eventually to a record deal with Motown Records. "You gave us strength, you made us one of the most famous families in the world", she wrote on her official Twitter account.
However, Paris Jackson, Michael's daughter, tweeted her doubts that it had come from her grandfather: "This is a attractive tweet".
"I don't [regret the beatings]", he told her. Eleven-year-old Michael Jackson became the youngest singer ever to top the benchmark United States singles chart as the lead vocalist on 1969's "I Want You Back". "It kept them out of jail and kept them right".
The grandson of a slave, Joe Jackson was born in rural Arkansas to a similarly merciless father. They separated several times but never divorced. In a widely watched 1993 interview with Oprah Winfrey, then mega-star Michael broke down in tears as he discussed his father's beatings, and he later excluded him from his will.
