Trump called on Cecilia Vega, a White House reporter for ABC News, before musing about her aloud.
"She's shocked that I picked her".
Vega: "I'm not. Thank you, Mr. President".
Trump had yet another moment of tension with another reporter who also tried to ask a question about Kavanaugh a few moments later.
"That's OK. I know you're not thinking, you never do", Trump replied.

As with so much of the Trump administration's bluster, it's impossible to say whether the edited transcript represents a calculated attempt by the White House to soft-censor the president's clear denigration of a female reporter's intelligence, or if it's a careless slip-up on the part of a government employee. Trump at one point said he'd be open to having the Federal Bureau of Investigation question the third accuser, Julie Swetnick, but also questioned her credibility.
President Donald Trump is well known by now for belittling women and the media, and on Monday he mocked both.
Vega later sent out a pointed message on Twitter.
"The FBI should do what they have to do to get to the answer", the president said. "I'm not a drinker, I can honestly say I've never had a beer in my entire life", he said, per USA Today. So, where the United States president accused the reporter of "not thinking", it now says "not thanking". He opened the question-and-answer session by inexplicably deriding a female reporter. "Mr. President, just to wrap up, do you promise to release the Federal Bureau of Investigation report'".
Today, during a press conference, Trump showed his disdain for journalists once again. Collins was also asking a question about Kavanaugh's sexual assault allegations. Similarly to Vega, Collins was reproached with the president wagging his finger at her saying her actions were "not nice". "You know what? You've had enough". The original transcript read, "I know you're not thanking, you never do". "I'd be a mess".
