Authorities in Houston say the two-year-old boy was abandoned on a stranger's doorstep by a woman. "It was very alarming and very disturbing and my heart was hurting for that child". Child Protective Services responded to the scene and took custody of the child and are assisting in identifying the child's family. The incident lasted less than 30 seconds.
The child was not physically harmed, Sheriff's Office officials said. The vehicle she fled in was white.
According to police, the mother has been identified, as well as the woman in the video. The father told authorities that when the child hadn't arrived in the afternoon, he assumed plans changed and left for the evening.
The long-haired woman then dashed back into the white auto she was filmed arriving in and drove away.
The boy has since been named in reports as Royal Prince Simmons, whose father was believed to live next door to the house where he was abandoned.
