NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Authorities in Louisiana say separate but related shootings Saturday in two different parishes have left five people dead, and they're searching for a 21-year-old man who they say is "armed and unsafe". Deputies arrived at the scene and were able to interview one of the victims before both died.

The Theriots were discovered inside their home in nearby Gonzales.

Police are searching for the suspect, 21-year-old Dakota Theriot, who fled in a gray and silver Dodge pick-up truck. The victims have been identified as Billy Ernest, 43, Tanner Ernest, 17, and Summer Ernest, 20, WAFB-TV reported.

The shootings happened about 70 miles west of city New Orleans.

Webre added that although Theriot doesn't seem to be targeting anyone else, he is "an armed and unsafe guy, so anybody who he comes in contact with could be a target".

Webre went on to identify the victims as Elizabeth Theriot, 50, and her husband, Keith Theriot, also 50.

The suspect is wanted for first-degree murder, illegal use of weapons and home invasion.

Authorities in Louisiana said Saturday they are looking for a 21-year-old man whom they say shot and killed his parents.

A Facebook page that appears to belong to Theriot shared a post in June saying "wish i could clear my mind jus for one day" (sic) with a sad face emoji.

In a press conference held on Saturday, Sheriff Bobby Webre said that police received a call around 8:45 a.m. about "two victims who had been shot in their trailer", located in the town of Gonzalez.

In May, he reposted something saying, "If you have a problem with me, tell me". According to Webre, Theriot lived with his parents "for a brief period of time but was recently asked to leave the residence and not to return".

Authorities believe the shootings in the two parishes are connected, and investigators are working together.

Webre said Dakota Theriot had some run-ins with law enforcement in other parishes that he described as misdemeanor-type incidents that did not include violence: "Certainly nothing of the magnitude that we've seen today".
