- Just over a year after he committed to Georgia in a highly publicized announcement, quarterback Justin Fields has reportedly left the team and transferred to Ohio State.

The news had been expected, as Fields name had been in the NCAA Transfer Portal since December 18.

While Fields would likely have to sit a season if he does enroll at Ohio State, he has a possible out to get on the field next year.

Fields spent one season with the Bulldogs as Jake Fromm's primary backup. Fields completed 27 of 39 passes for 328 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions and rushed 42 times for 266 yards and four more scores.

This is great news for the Buckeyes.

Redshirt sophomore quarterback Dwayne Haskins is expected to enter the National Football League after setting multiple records last season.

The current Buckeye depth chart includes Haskins, who is expected to enter the NFL Draft, redshirt sophomore Tate Martell, who was a standout at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, and Matthew Baldwin. Both are expected to compete with Fields for the starting job as he will seek to be immediately eligible. He will also have Ryan Day as his head coach, who took over for the retired Urban Meyer the day after the Rose Bowl victory.

Oklahoma has hired Ohio State co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach Alex Grinch as defensive coordinator. As well as his relationship to the program, Day's reputation of developing quarterbacks for the next level is a strong selling point.
